We have an opportunity for a BE/BC Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physician to join our well-established CVA (Stroke) Physician / Neurohospitalist service at University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Institute in Baltimore, MD.

 

Our hospitalist team provides inpatient care within the hospital setting, including admitting patients, performing physical exams, ordering tests, diagnosing, performing hospital rounds and planning for discharge.

  • Must be BC/BE in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine (open to other areas) with an active Maryland license, BLS, ACLS, DEA and CDS License.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our hospitalist team provides inpatient internal medicine care within the hospital setting, including admitting patients, performing physical exams, ordering tests, diagnosing, performing hospital rounds and planning for discharge.

  • Follow all established policies for maintenance and signing of medical records.
  • Contribute to the achievement of department goals and adhere to policies, procedures, and quality and safety standards.
  • Submit accurate and timely charges for all professional services performed.
  • Evaluate and manage patients with acute stroke and other cerebrovascular conditions
  • Lead or participate in stroke alerts and rapid response protocols
  • Determine eligibility for thrombolytic therapy (tPA) and/or endovascular intervention
  • Interpret neuroimaging, including CT, CTA, MRI, and perfusion studies

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • BE/BC in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Strong inpatient skill set
  • Quality-focused team player
  • Experience working with advanced practice providers
  • Excellent organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to function effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Commitment to providing exceptional patient care

University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute (UMROI) is the largest provider of inpatient rehabilitation care in the state of Maryland. UM Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute provides specialized rehabilitation services in each of its four 32-bed units.
