The Division of General Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University is seeking a community-based general surgeon to join our growing faculty. This position will be based primarily at Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, Massachusetts, with potential practice opportunities at other Brown-affiliated hospitals across the health system. The position will be primarily clinical, caring for patients with the full spectrum of general surgical diseases. In addition, there are opportunities to contribute to the academic mission of Brown University. The Division is proud to support both a General Surgery Residency and an MIS Fellowship, although there are not currently rotations at St. Anne’s Hospital.

About the Job:

  • Join a team of 5 surgeons and experienced advanced practice providers
  • Call is 1:4 day or less
  • Broad general surgery (non-bariatric)
  • Anticipated 400-500 cases per year
  • How many ORs
  • DaVinci robots, laparoscopic and endoscopic
  • Areas of potential scholarly focus include outcomes research, surgical education, health services research, and clinical innovation, though we are open to diverse academic interests
  • This position cannot support candidates currently on a J1 visa

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in general surgery
  • Demonstrate excellence in patient care and surgical skill
  • Show potential for scholarly contributions in clinical or translational research
  • Value collaboration in a collegial, multidisciplinary environment
  • Surgeons with proficiency is Portuguese highly encouraged to apply
