At Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers, our nocturnists are an essential part of a collaborative hospital medicine team that keeps exceptional patient care moving around the clock. As patient volumes continue to grow, we're seeking a BC/BE Internal Medicine physician to join our established overnight team.

This isn't a role where you're practicing in isolation. You'll be supported by experienced nursing staff, dedicated case management, outstanding specialty consultants, and a hospital leadership team that values physician input. Position Highlights

  • 7 on / 7 off schedule
  • 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM shifts
  • One nocturnist in-house overnight
  • Well-established Hospital Medicine program serving the community since 2009
  • Approximately 95% of inpatient admissions managed by the Hospitalist team
  • Average of 4-5 overnight admissions
  • Open ICU with specialty consultation readily available
  • Meditech Expanse EMR with Dragon dictation
  • Dedicated Hospitalist coding support
  • Daily multidisciplinary rounds
  • Excellent nursing, case management, and social work support
  • Intubations and central lines preferred, but not required

Compensation & Benefits

 

  • Compensation: $300,000–$320,000 base salary (depending on experience), plus quality incentives from day one
  • Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligible
  • Medical education loan repayment of $20,000 annually, if applicable
  • Relocation assistance up to $8,000
  • $6,000 annual CME and general expense allowance
  • 6 weeks of paid time off, plus CME time
  • Comprehensive BCBS medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance
  • 403(b) retirement plan with employer match, 457(b), and physician Supplemental Executive Retirement Plan (SERP)
  • Paid malpractice insurance with no tail coverage

Morris Hospital is an 89-bed, acute-care facility located just 55 miles southwest of Chicago in Morris, Illinois. Supported by more than 200 physicians and advanced practice providers1,400 employees, and 300 volunteers, our system includes 27 healthcare centers across 12 communities, offering comprehensive primary, specialty, diagnostic, and urgent care services close to home.

Morris Hospital is a Level II Perinatal Care Provider, Primary Stroke Certified, and an active participant in an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) since 2015. We continue to grow through innovation and investment:

  • Our recent $74 million master facility plan, launched in 2018, has modernized nearly every aspect of our campus. 
  • new Emergency Department (opened March 2020) with 17 private, state-of-the-art rooms.
  • Renovated Cardiac/EMG DiagnosticsInfusion Therapy, and Imaging Departments, including a new Women’s Imaging Center.
  • Streamlined Outpatient Laboratory Services and upgraded patient registration systems.
  • Perioperative Services renovation (April 2024) — creating advanced facilities for surgery, endoscopy, and minor procedures.
  • Acquisition of the Mako SmartRobotics™ surgical system for precision orthopedic care.
  • Opening of the Morris Hospital YMCA (December 2024) — a 60,000-square-foot wellness center with physician offices, a facility serving as a cornerstone for community health.
