Opportunity available for a full-time Orthopedic Surgeon in beautiful Southern Colorado.  Enjoy a slower-paced lifestyle and manageable patient volumes in a thriving community that is centrally located between Santa Fe, Colorado Springs and Durango. 

Required Profile:

Must be BC/BE - Orthopedic Surgery with a desire and ability to work with a team in a multi-specialty clinic

Practice Profile:

Type of practice: Hospital-employed position. Outpatient clinic attached to a 49-bed hospital.  

Inpatient :25% Outpatient 75%

Weeknight call coverage: Not to exceed 12 per month - approximately 10 percent of calls result in the need to perform a procedure.

Average # of hospital admits: 2-4 patients in hospital at one time between both surgeons

Weekend call coverage: Make rounds every morning, 1 – 2 hours daily.

Call coverage triage: Yes, 24/7 hospitalist on duty

Clinic hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

Patient population (ages): Adult population, limited pediatrics

Expected patient load   18-20 patients in clinic per day

Procedures needed: Practice sees a wide variety of orthopedic cases i.e., knee, ACL, hip, shoulder (rotator cuff) and some ankle fractures.  Working to expand sports medicine services.

Ideal candidate/profile of candidate skills needed for position: Candidate must be comfortable being solo on call, comfortable working with a team, with a desire to practice in a rural area.

EMR – McKesson Practice Partner and Paragon system.

Radiology services – 128-slice CT scanner, 1.5 Tesla MRI, onsite radiology 4 days per week, 24/7 remote tele-radiology services, limited interventional radiology available

Provider Profile:

There are currently one full-time and two part-time orthopedic surgeons in clinic. The clinic is part of a larger system group, including two hospitals and five clinics, employing a total of 56 providers.   Nursing ratio is 1:1, and 1:1.75 when volume of 85% of goal is reached. Support staff is provided.

401(a) retirement account will be established on the employee's behalf. The facility will contribute 3% of the employee’s gross annual pay, not to exceed IRS guidelines. Vesting Schedule applies.       In addition to the 401a contribution, employees participating in the 403(b) Voluntary Pre-Tax Retirement Plan will be eligible for a 2% match after meeting eligibility requirements. 

Paid Time Off

Paid time off (“PTO”) is available to physician employees to use for vacation, sick days, personal time, holidays, CME, and any other reason for which they require time away from work. Physician employees will receive PTO in accordance with the number of years worked, as listed below: 

Less than 5 years:             264 hours of paid time off per calendar year

5 years or more:               288 hours of paid time off per calendar year
