Job Description

The Division of Child Protection within the Department of Pediatrics at Saint Louis University School of Medicine is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Child Abuse Pediatrician to join our multidisciplinary team. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable children while working in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

About Us:

  • Based at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, a 190-bed, free-standing children’s hospital and Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center.
  • Our team includes:
    • 1 full-time Child Abuse Pediatrician
    • 1 full-time Nurse Practitioner
    • 2 full-time Social Workers
    • 6 full-time Nurses
  • The Department of Pediatrics features 130 faculty members across all major subspecialties, fostering collaboration and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert inpatient and outpatient consultations.
  • Share call responsibilities within the division.
  • Supervise advanced practice providers.
  • Educate future healthcare professionals and community partners.
  • Mentor providers in Missouri’s SAFECARE network.
  • Engage in research and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, child services, and other agencies.
  • Participate in policy development to protect children.
  • Support programs such as our comprehensive foster care clinic and statewide initiatives (fatality review teams, advisory committees).

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Child Abuse Pediatrics.
  • Eligible for an unrestricted Missouri medical license.
  • Strong commitment to child advocacy and trauma-informed care.
  • Ability to navigate complex child welfare systems and collaborate with community organizations.
