Practice Setting Trends
Of the over 2,000 physicians who participated in the survey, 87% were employed full time.

Time in Current Profession
Respondents have been in the profession for
> 15 years and ∼ 12 years in their current position.
Q3: "How many years have you been in the profession?"

Age Spread
Of the over 2,000 physicians who participated
in the survey, almost half are ages 30-49.

Job Satisfaction
Job satisfaction was slightly higher than earnings
satisfaction, males were more likely to be satisfied
than females on both metrics, and 47% are very or
extremely satisfied with their current position.
Q6: "Overall, for your current position, how would you rate your job satisfaction?"
Compensation Ranges Overall
Almost 70% of surveyed individuals had a total compensation
in the $100k to $300k range, and hospitals seemed to have
slightly more higher-salaried respondents.

including annual bonuses?"
2017 vs. 2018 Compensation Trends
Roughly one third of physicians earned more in 2018 than
they did in 2017.

Trends in Bonuses
More than half of physicians are not receiving annual
bonuses, with $20,000 being the median bonus for those
who receive bonuses.

Sign-on Bonuses
25% received a sign-on bonus, with the
median bonus being $15,000. Q12: "When you started in your current position, did you receive a sign-on bonus?"
Student Loans
28% of respondents had outstanding student loans,
and only 9% were receiving loan assistance. Q13: "Did you have any student loans with an outstanding balance in 2018"

Career Fairs
Almost 70% of physicians who attended a career fair
found it to be helpful or somewhat helpful, and 70%
of those who attended went to a live career fair.

Email Recruitment
Email is the preferred method of recruitment for
most physicians, but office physicians were more
likely to prefer not beng recruited compared to
hospital physicians.
