PracticeMatch is excited to partner with Banner Health to support gastroenterology fellows in their commitment to advancing patient care.

The Banner Health Gastroenterology Scholarship was created in partnership with PracticeMatch and Banner Health to recognize gastroenterology fellows who demonstrate exceptional dedication to improving digestive health and making a meaningful impact in their communities.

This scholarship will help offset the significant costs of medical education for current fellows. To enter, submit your CV and an essay (minimum of 500 words) detailing your inspiration for pursuing a career in gastroenterology and how you plan to leverage your expertise to enhance patient outcomes and positively influence your community. The winner will receive $2,000 to be applied toward their education.

CRITERIA
Scholarship essays will be evaluated based on the applicant’s ability to clearly and thoughtfully convey their vision, rather than whether PracticeMatch agrees with their viewpoint. Judges will look for writing that is well-structured, compelling, and logically organized. Winning essays should demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care and the advancement of gastroenterology.

Submissions are due by August 21, 2026. A winner will be announced on September 4, 2026 on our website. The winning essay will be published on our website and our social media pages.

No application is required. Contest is open to medical school students located in the United States, except where void or prohibited by law.
Essays must be written in English only.
Entrant must be a student enrolled in a medical school, residency program or fellowship at the time of the contest deadline. Verification of enrollment will be required for all winning entrants.
To avoid disqualification, mailed-in essays must include a stapled cover sheet with the following information:
- Your name, address, email address, and phone number.
- The name of your program or medical school.
- Mailed-in submissions (CV & Essay) must be stapled.
Essay must be no fewer than 500 words in length, double-spaced. Spelling errors and/or written corrections (by anyone) found on the essay will count against the final grade and should be omitted before submission.
One entry per student per contest.
Essay must be submitted online or postmarked by August 21, 2026, no later than 11:59 PM, Pacific Standard Time.
Judges have the right to provide contest deadline extensions when deemed appropriate.
Essay must be solely the work of the entrant. Plagiarism will result in disqualification. Essays must not infringe on any third-party rights or intellectual property of any person, company or organization. By submitting an essay to this contest, the entrant agrees to indemnify PracticeMatch for any claim, demand, judgment or other allegation arising from possible violation of someone's trademark, copyright or other legally protected interest in any way in the entrant's essay.
Decisions of the judges are final.
Employees of PracticeMatch, its board of directors and their immediate family members are not eligible for this contest. Past winners are not eligible for this contest.
All entries become the property of PracticeMatch and will not be returned.
On September 4, 2026, the winner and all other participants will be notified via email and announced on our website.
The winner is responsible for providing their mailing addresses and other information required by law, including tax ID numbers, in order to receive the prize.
The entrants agree to allow PracticeMatch to post their names on any of its affiliated websites and to use any data submitted with the entry to build a profile of the entrant on our site.
The first place essay may be posted in its entirety on any of these websites with full credit given to the author.
The winner will be solely responsible for any federal, state or local taxes.
