PMRC24: Physician Panel Recap
Our annual recruitment conference, PMRC24, just wrapped up in Clearwater Beach, Florida. We had the privilege of hosting a panel comprised of 6 candidates. Check out what we saw and heard from these candidates below and view the video for yourself!
Preferred Communication Methods:
This panel of physicians stated that they overwhelmingly prefer email as the primary mode of communication. They appreciate the ability to review messages at their convenience and respond thoughtfully. This is particularly important given their busy schedules and the demanding nature of their work.
While not currently widely used, LinkedIn presents an untapped opportunity for physician recruitment. Some physicians expressed interest in connecting with recruiters and learning about opportunities through the platform.
Effective Email and Job Posting Strategies:
Our panelists felt that recruiters should craft compelling email subject lines that include essential information, such as salary, location, and position type. This clear and concise approach helps physicians quickly assess the relevance of the opportunity.
Avoid using excessive capitalization or emojis in subject lines, as these can be perceived as unprofessional or off-putting.
Job postings should provide a comprehensive overview of the position, including details about the work schedule, inpatient/outpatient structure, call requirements, and compensation.
While general information about the organization and community can be included, prioritize providing in-depth details about the position and its requirements.
Physicians value transparency, particularly regarding compensation. Clearly stating the salary range upfront builds trust and demonstrates respect for their time.
Site Visit Best Practices:
Site visits should focus on providing a realistic preview of the work environment. Prioritize showcasing the actual facilities where the physician would be working and facilitate interactions with potential colleagues and support staff.
Our panel of Physicians emphasized the importance of meeting support staff during site visits. They are interested in gauging the workplace culture, observing the dynamics between staff members, and assessing the overall level of support provided.
Panelists suggested that recruiters arrange opportunities for candid conversations with key personnel, such as the practice manager. These interactions provide valuable insights into the practice's culture, workflow, and day-to-day operations.
Building Trust and Understanding:
Building trust is crucial throughout the recruitment process. Our panelists felt that physicians overall respond positively to recruiters who are responsive, attentive, and genuinely invested in assisting them.
Educate physicians about the job search process, industry trends, and relevant topics like coding. This positions recruiters as valuable resources and demonstrates a commitment to physician success.
The insights shared by physicians at PMRC24 provide a roadmap for recruiters to enhance their strategies and create a more engaging and informative candidate experience. By prioritizing clear communication, transparency, and a candidate-centric approach, recruiters can attract top talent and build lasting relationships with physicians.
